Burgess, an expert in sports science and nutrition, is the first Australian to be appointed to the NAB. Experienced in education and training, he is currently Head of High Performance at Port Adelaide Football (AFL) Club. Prior to this appointment, Burgess was Head of Fitness and Conditioning at Liverpool Football Club (EPL) and worked with many other top Australian national and regional sporting organizations. He has worked as a lecturer in Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University in Sydney, and other prestigious Australian universities. Burgess has spoken at numerous national and international sports medicine conferences. He has also had multiple papers published in peer review journals.
Burgess received his Ph.D. in Movement Analysis of AFL and Soccer from Australian Catholic University.
